Scunthorpe United are appealing for supporters to help spread some festive cheer by donating to a charity toy appeal ahead of this Christmas period.

The toy appeal, launched by Lisa Hensby of Isle-based children’s market company Baby Dinosaurs Kids Markets, is being supported by the club as a dedicated drop-off point for any donations. Requests for the appeal include new or nearly new toys, health and beauty gift sets, wrapping paper, ribbon and sacks - all of which will be donated to local causes this winter.

Local councils, health professionals, headteachers and children’s charities have all been able to nominate worthy families and individuals who need a little extra help this Christmas.

Scunthorpe United’s Head of Marketing, Ticketing and Retail, Rob Noble, said: “We’re delighted to act as a donation point for the Baby Dinosaurs Toy Appeal this year. Some of the donations will go towards the football club’s Christmas Hospital visit to the Disney Ward, however, the majority will go to some fantastic local charities and causes that will benefit children in the local community, so we’d encourage supporters to get behind the appeal and to donate some toys this Christmas."

He added: “Any donations of new or nearly new toys, would be gratefully received in the Scunthorpe United Club Shop at Glanford Park until 5pm on Saturday December 8th when the first team are at home to Gillingham.”

The Scunthorpe Events team at Glanford Park are also supporting the appeal by hosting an appreciation event for the toy appeal on Thursday 13th December at 6pm at our stadium, with everyone who donates welcome to attend.
