Scunthorpe United is delighted to have completed the signing of Doncaster Rovers defender Andy Butler on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old pens a one-year deal to become manager Paul Hurst’s first signing since taking charge.

The centre-back returns to Glanford Park after originally departing 11 years ago. Butler came through the youth ranks here and made 153 appearances in all competitions, scoring 15 times.

A two-year spell at Huddersfield Town followed, including a loan stint at Blackpool, before stays with Walsall, Sheffield United and latterly Doncaster Rovers.

He spent four years at the Keepmoat Stadium, and was a key part of the side that reached the Sky Bet League One play-offs last season.

In total, Butler has made 638 career appearances and netted 51 times.

You could join Andy in signing up for next season by buying a 12th Man package. We have them sale on advance rates until 5pm on Friday, May 31st. Click here to buy.
