United will be hoping to return to winning ways when they visit Charlton Athletic on Easter Monday (3pm kick-off).

The Iron head into the match on the back of a first clean sheet in 10 games when they drew 0-0 with Blackpool on Good Friday. Caretaker manager Andy Dawson will be hoping to build on that against the Addicks by clicking a win that could potentially take them up to 16th in the table.

Lee Bowyer’s team were beaten 2-1 at Oxford United on the same day and have already secured a play-off place, sitting fifth in the division.

TEAM NEWS...

Right-back Tony McMahon will miss out with a hamstring injury picked up at Shrewsbury a fortnight ago.

Matthew Lund and Jordan Clarke (both knee) are back on the training pitch as the medical staff continue to monitor them.

Elsewhere, Ryan Colclough (knee) is out for the remainder of the season. Rory Watson (arm) is back on the training pitch too but is working towards a return at the start of pre-season in his recovery.

PAST MEETINGS...

The Iron have beaten Charlton on the last three occasions when the two sides have met, and have a good record against the Addicks over recent years, only losing two of the previous ten games in all competitions.

The last time the two teams clashed was at Glanford Park back in October and they played out an entertaining game, as the Iron won 5-3. A Cameron Borthwick-Jackson brace and further goals from Charlie Goode, Josh Morris and Stephen Humphrys set Scunthorpe on their way to three points that day.

The last meeting at The Valley also saw the Iron come away with a victory, as an Ivan Toney goal in the 31st minute proved to be enough to separate the two sides in April last year. United will be hoping for a similar result again on Monday.

ONE TO WATCH...

Former Iron striker Lyle Taylor has been in terrific form for Charlton this season and has scored a total of 21 goals in all competitions and has also chipped in with eight assists.

The attacker is also in the race for the League One golden boot, currently sitting in fourth with 18 goals, as he chases down James Collins of Luton Town on 21 in the remaining few games of the campaign.

Taylor previously had a spell at Glanford Park back in 2014/15 when he joined the club from Sheffield United. The striker made 12 appearancs for the Iron and scored three goals, before moving on at the end of the season to link up with AFC Wimbledon.

From there, he signed a contract with Charlton in the summer of 2018 and hasn't looked back since, making a name for himself as one of League One's most prolific strikers in Lee Bowyer's side.

The striker will be sure to keep the Iron defence on their toes on Monday, as he will be keen to add to his goalscoring tally.
