Scunthorpe United's Academy will be holding a number of ‘Grassroots Talent Days’ for local Scunthorpe and district players to have the chance to showcase their footballing skills during the coming season.

All of the events are free to ensure that all children have the opportunity to attend. The first event to kick off the programme will be for this season’s Under-8 and Under-9 age groups - children going back to school in Year 3 and Year 4 this September.

The first event will be held as follows:

Venue: The St Lawrence Academy, Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe, DN15 7DF

Date: Tuesday, September 1st, 2020

Time: 1.00pm – 2.00pm

Age Group: Under-8s (School Year 3 in September 2020) and Under-9s (School Year 4 in September 2020)

Information

The event will be held outdoor, so all players must report directly to the grass pitches at the St Lawrence Academy. Do not come on to the school site or to the academy office. All players should arrive ready to play and must wear shin pads during the coaching session and also bring a soft drink or water. Players should wear their own appropriate training kit and footwear.

Applying to attend

Parents are requested to download and complete the registration form from the Club website and forward it to ian.james@scunthorpe-united.co.uk by August 31st at 5pm at the latest. If it is not received by this deadline, unfortunately your child will not be able to attend the event.

COVID-19 Safe

Parents must pre-register their child before they can attend the event; please do not just turn up on the day without registering as your child will not be allowed to participate.

Players should arrive for registration between 12.45pm and 1pm for a 1pm start.

On arrival, players will have their temperature taken, if it is above 38 degrees they will not be allowed to participate and will be advised to follow Government Covid guidelines.

Parents are allowed to watch the coaching session but must observe the social distancing 2m rule at all times.

Safeguarding / Player Welfare / Child Protection

For safeguarding, player welfare and child protection reasons, an adult 18+/parent/guardian must stay with their child throughout the duration of the event.
