The Iron's Under-23s side return to Premier League Cup action this Friday when they make the trip to take on Newcastle United (1pm kick-off).

The game will be played at Whitley Park, which can be located at Northumberland Football Association, Whitley Park, Whitley Road, Benton, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE12 9F. We will also have live text coverage on our Twitter feed, which can be accessed by clicking here.

SCENE-SETTER

Our last game in the competition came at West Bromwich Albion last Thursday, when United were beaten 3-0 by a highly-rated Baggies group.

The final group stage match will come at Hull City next Tuesday evening.

The fixture against Newcastle could see further game time for attacker Jordan Hallam, who played 45 minutes of last week's match, as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Though Junior Brown returned to training on Thursday following a medial ligament injury which has kept him out since January 25th, the game will probably come too soon for him. He may play a part against Hull City next week.

The squad will mostly consist of the Under-23s and Under-18s players, with the first team in action 26 hours later against Forest Green Rovers in League Two.
