Two members of the Scunthorpe United office staff will be taking part in Lindsey Lodge Hospice's Jog On January event.

Club Secretary Adam Grice and Media Executive / Ticket Office Manager James Moody will both be looking to complete the month-long virtual fitness challenge to raise much-needed funds for the local charity.

Both aim for a total distance of 200km over the course of the month while completing the challenge.

Participants are encouraged to keep moving for 31 days in January however they choose – whether it’s walking, running, dancing or swimming. By completing the challenge and raising £31 for Lindsey Lodge, participants will earn a bespoke Jog on January medal.

The 29-year old charity provides free of charge specialist care for patients with life limiting illnesses from North Lincolnshire, including symptom management, emotional support and end of life care.

Speaking about getting involved, James said: "With the club firmly behind backing Lindsey Lodge's event in January, I was eager to get involved myself and give back to a local charity that gave palliative care to my grandad back in 2006 and 2007.

"All of my family have supported the charity ever since they provided such tremendous support, and this is just another small way in which I can give back to them and help them raise much-needed funds to allow them to continue delivering the care that they give to hundreds of people every single year."

Adam added: "Having worked for the club for eight years, I'm always eager to assist a local charity where I can.

"Lindsey Lodge have shown good success with their Jog On January event over the last two years but hopefully, with Scunthorpe United getting behind it, they can reach a higher total than what they've previously achieved which is vital to allow them to provide the care that they do.

"While the event wants us to do some form of exercise every day for 31 days, we've put a target of 200km on our own personal mission to keep up motivated throughout January."

While their care is free of charge to patients and their families but not free to provide. As a charity, they rely heavily on the generosity of local people and organisations to raise just over £3.7 million each year to run Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
