Having taken delivery of the 2021/22 third shirt featuring supporter names last week, upon inspection of the final product it became apparent that a quantity of surnames from the list that had been sent to Macron had not been sublimated into the shirt. The club reported the problem and Macron have taken full responsibility for the error, issuing the following apology.

It reads: “Unfortunately there has been a mistake in the production of the 2021/22 third kits and for that we are sorry. Macron is proud of our partnership with Scunthorpe United Football Club and we are working extremely hard to ensure this situation is resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“We would like to put on record how sorry we are for any inconvenience caused to the fans and the club by the delay in delivering the items as they should have been and we will ensure the correct product is produced and delivered as soon as possible."

The club are waiting for Macron to provide an accurate date for delivery of the correct shirt and will update in due course. Supporters who have pre-ordered the shirt and would like the version that is available now as well as the correct version when they arrive should contact sufcshop@scunthorpe-united.co.uk with their order number for further details.

Having consulted with some of the representatives of the official supporters’ clubs, the board have agreed in principle to have the shirt as the third kit for both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
