Scunthorpe United's ticket office and club shop will be closed on Monday, June 10th as the club celebrates the life of John Staff, allowing all club staff to pay their respects.

John passed away with his wife Christine and his son John Jr by his side following a short illness, with the Iron losing a legend, a club historian and a supporter of over 60 years.

Staff at the football club wish to pay their final respects to John, and therefore the decision has been taken to close the ticket office and club shop on the day of his funeral to allow everyone to attend the funeral, should they wish to do so.

John will be making his final journey via the Attis Arena, and is scheduled to make his final visit at around 10.20am before arriving at Woodlands Crematorium for 10.40am.

John's family would very pleased if supporters were to wear Iron kits or colours at John's funeral service.

John's obituary online reads as follows:

John Albert Staff of Goodwood, Bottesford, sadly left his beloved family on the 28th of May 2024, after a short but valiant fight against cancer, aged 75 years.

Loving husband of Christine, father of John and Robert, and grandfather of Austin, Alannah and Sadie.

John will be greatly missed by all, and has left an immeasurable void for his family and local community who adored him.

On the 10th of June 2024, a lap of honour will be completed around his second home - Glanford Park followed by service and committal at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe at 10:40am.

The wake will be held back at Glanford Park from midday, where all friends and family are welcome to commemorate and remember John's life, for those wishing to pay their final respects and raise a toast in his memory.

Family flowers only please but donations would be gratefully accepted for the benefit of "Lindsey Lodge Hospice" and may be left following the service at Woodlands Crematorium.

Donations may be made at Glanford Park and will benefit "SUFC."
