The Iron return to action on Tuesday evening, making a final trip to the north-east to face an in-form Spennymoor Town side (7.45pm kick-off).

After a five star display from the Iron, the goal will be to build on the 5-0 win away to Bishop’s Stortford. Danny Whitehall ended his goal drought running back to the end of last year in the best possible way, getting a hat-trick and netted his first in less than a minute.

The reverse fixture was a day for United to remember as we beat them 6-0 at the Attis Arena. Connor Smith netted twice in the first seven minutes, Tyler Denton made it 3-0 going into half-time. Second half goals from Jason Law, Jacob Butterfield and Danny Whitehall wrapped up all three points.

IRON TEAM NEWS

Liam McAlinden continues his three-match ban following his red card against Chester 10 days ago, while defender Andrew Boyce serves his one-match suspension following his sending off a week ago.

Kai Corbett comes straight into the squad following his arrival on loan from Peterborough United.

Elsewhere, Jason Law and Callum Roberts are both absent through injury, with Law edging towards involvement, despite a setback in the week, while Roberts is less than a month from contention.

THE OPPOSITION

Spennymoor sit 12th in mid-table, but go into this game in fine form. Town have won six of their last seven, and are unbeaten in their last six away games, and have aspirations of sneaking into a play-off spot, sitting just four points behind seventh.

A key player for our opponents is Robert Ramshaw. The 30-year-old midfielder has netted seven times this season and has been a crucial player. He got the winner against Darlington in Spennymoor’s last fixture and will be a tricky player for the Iron to contain.
