The 20-year-old is now in his third season as a professional, and has penned a contract that will keep him at the club until 2019.
Starting out as a midfielder, Sutton has adapted to the right-back spot during the last couple of seasons.
He has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the club, seven of which have come so far this season. Sutton helped play a part in the clean sheets against Oxford, Plymouth, Bury and Blackpool.
