Utilita to power the Iron

Scunthorpe United Football Club is delighted to announce Utilita as the club’s official energy partner.

Established in 2003, Utilita was the first independent challenger to the so-called ‘Big Six’ energy providers in the domestic market and in 2008 became the first energy supplier to install smart meters to help customers better manage their energy usage.

Utilita partner with other fellow football clubs across the UK including, but not limited to, Aston Villa, Derby County, Glasgow Rangers, Leeds United, Sheffield United and Sunderland.

James Rodwell, Chief Executive Officer of Scunthorpe United, said: “Linking up with a national company who have longevity in their respective industry is great for the football club and we are looking forward to working with Utilita with immediate effect. Utilita are a growing company and one which have been trend setters in the energy industry. We are hoping for a long and prosperous relationship partnering with Utilita.”

As well as becoming the club’s official energy partners, Utilita will be supplying the energy to power Glanford Park and will have a significant presence on the AMS Stand, which houses our away support on matchdays. Utilita will also sponsor our Junior Iron Club package, which looks to provide many benefits to our younger generation of supporters, including money-can’t buy experiences. With the link-up, we are hopeful that many new initiatives can be driven with Utilita at the fore.

Jem Maidment, Director of Marketing and Communications at Utilita, said: “To be powering Glanford Park and supporting the Iron on and off the pitch, is something we are very proud of. In particular, we are looking forward to engaging with supporters and partners of the club to showcase our products and services. At Utilita, one of our aims is to give customers a better, fairer deal for their energy – so whether it’s through partnering with the Junior Iron Club or engaging with businesses, we will maximise our ties with the club in order to reach out to communities in and around Scunthorpe.”
