A Scunthorpe United side will face a Doncaster Rovers XI in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday afternoon.

The match, which will take place away from home, gives manager Stuart McCall the opportunity to see the remainder of his squad following his first six games in charge of the side.

It will also give vital match minutes to defenders Rory McArdle (heel) and Jordan Clarke (hamstring) who are both on their return from injuries.

Speaking in his post-match interview following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town, McCall told iFollow Iron: “I’m looking forward to the game against Doncaster.

“A lot of the lads in the squad I’ve still not seen properly. Jordan Clarke will be back and Rory (McArdle) will play. Butty (Lewis Butroid), who did well when he came on last week (against AFC Wimbledon), will play, as will James Horsfield, George Hornshaw and the four lads up front - Dalesy (Andy Dales), Humphs (Stephen Humphrys), (George) Thomas and big Kyle (Wootton).

“It’ll be a great game and they’ve all been terrific in training. They’ve been really sharp and that’s what we want. Just because we’ve won (against Shrewsbury) doesn’t mean we will keep the same side, because we might go with a different shape next weekend.

“Everyone needs to be on their toes. The lads need a game and it’s a really good game for us to have. Because we’ve kept a similar side for the last few games, we need to take a look at these lads and give them their chance to stake their claim.”
