Paul Marsden will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home Leasing.com Trophy encounter against Leicester City Under-21s on Tuesday.

The Lancashire-based official will travel to the Sands Venue Stadium for his eighth game of the campaign and his third in Sky Bet League Two.

His first game of the campaign saw him officiate in Oldham Athletic's 3-2 home win over Liverpool Under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy back on August 7th. He showed three cautions on the night. Meanwhile, his last encounter in the middle came last Tuesday when he took charge of Bolton Wanderers' goalless draw with Oxford United at the Macron Stadium. Two yellow cards were shown on the night.

He's refereed the Iron on two past occasions. When he refereed United last season at the Sands Venue Stadium, it was his first-ever League One clash. Scunthorpe drew 3-3 with Oxford United in that fixture, coming from 3-0 down. He showed a total of eight yellow cards that day, three of which going to Iron players. The most recent fixture involving Marsden came towards the end of last season when the side drew 1-1 away at Shrewsbury Town.

Despite refereeing three of the invited sides in this competition, including Manchester City's Under-21s on two occasions, he's yet to officiate in a game including the Foxes.

In 2018-19, he took charge of 34 games in the National League, issuing 93 yellow cards and 10 reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in seven encounters, showing 21 yellows and no reds.

On Tuesday, he will be assisted by Alan Clayton and Matthew Bristow, while Paul Graham has been appointed as the fourth official.
