Jordan Gabriel was delighted to make his Iron debut against Crewe Alexandra in 2-2 draw at the weekend after joining on loan from Nottingham Forest.

He told iFollow Iron: “It’s a great feeling. It’s a great club to be at. I’ve been given the opportunity to be here and progress as a player. I’m very grateful.”

He thanked his new teammates for helping him settle in after he was thrown into the side on Saturday.

He said: “Since I’ve been here they have made me feel welcome which plays a massive part. You’ve got the experienced players there who have all got great quality so it’s nice to be around that.”

The defender said his side should have taken more from the game and was disappointed to fall behind in the second period.

“It’s not what we wanted,” he said. “We had a game plan. We started well and went into the second half with a goal which is a positive.

“We conceded early on and conceded again, and they weren’t the greatest goals either. They were something we could have easily avoided.”

However, he was pleased with the attitude shown by the Iron to come back from 2-1 down and take a point.

He said: “We had to dig in deep and get something out of the game. A point is better than losing the game.”

The 21-year-old is hoping to go one better and put three points on the board against Northampton Town on Tuesday night in a midweek Sky Bet League Two clash.

He explained: “We’ve got to go into that game with the same mentality of wanting to win. If we keep a clean sheet then we’re half way there. We want to push on and get wins.”
