Declan Bourne has been appointed to take charge of the Iron away at Morecambe on Tuesday.

The Nottinghamshire-based official will travel to the Mazuma Stadium for the 28th of his season and his 14th in Sky Bet League Two. The current campaign is his first as an EFL official having served for two years in the National League.

His first game of the season was the goalless draw between Port Vale and Tranmere Rovers in the Papa Johns Trophy, where he issued four cautions with his first EFL game coming four days later as Leyton Orient edged a 1-0 win at Oldham Athletic. His latest game was on Good Friday when he oversaw the 1-1 draw between Salford City and Grimsby Town, showing five cautions on the day.

He was fourth official to Lee Mason in the Championship game between Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United on Saturday in his latest outing at a game.

He's yet to referee in a game involving the Iron, but he has taken charge of one game involving the Shrimps. That came on Boxing Day at the Mazuma Stadium when he oversaw their 3-1 win over Grimsby. Two cautions were shown on the day, including one to former United midfielder Yann Songo'o.

In 2019-20, he was in the middle of 13 National League games, issuing 39 yellow cards and two reds. So far in this season, in 27 games, he's shown 81 yellow cards and one red.

On Tuesday, he will be assisted by Chris Isherwood and Peter Gooch, while Matthew Parry has been appointed as the fourth official.
