New signing Alex Kenyon believes his move to the Iron represents a 'fantastic opportunity' for himself.
The 28-year-old signs after leaving Morecambe, who he enjoyed promotion from League Two with last season following eight years at the Mazuma Stadium.

The experienced midfielder pens a one-year contract at the Sands Venue Stadium and has made over 300 senior appearances at first Stockport County and then the Shrimpers, who he had been with since 2013.

Kenyon told iFollow Iron: "As soon as the gaffer called me, I was interested and it sounded like something that would be fantastic for me and hopefully I can show my qualities this season. I'm buzzing to sign for the club and can't wait to get going to be honest."

He added: "I had been at Morecambe for eight years and showed loyalty to the place, so it felt hard to leave. To go to Wembley and win in the play-off final was unbelievable, and probably the best day of my life so far, but I'm looking forward to the challenge here and the season ahead.

"There were a lot of highs and lows but I enjoyed my time there and it's a club I will always look out for, but it's time to move on and I'm a Scunthorpe United player now."

Talking about the move coming less than three weeks after his previous side won promotion to League One at Wembley against Newport, he said: "Thankfully the call from the gaffer came quickly. He told me the history of the club and I'd like us to get back to pushing on again.

"It's a club that wants to improve on last season and finish as high as it can. Hopefully I can bring some good experience in and help all the lads out.

"I'm someone who will give 100% every game and don't mind putting my foot or head where it hurts. I'll win the ball and keep it simple, but I'll give my all and put myself about.

"Hopefully that will come across to the fans that I'm that sort of player who will put everything into all I do. I can't wait for the fans to get back watching the club and I look forward to seeing everyone, and helping drive this club forward again."
