Young midfielder Jack Moore-Billam gave his reaction to Iron Player, following the Bradford Park Avenue friendly, which he netted in for the Iron’s 1-0 victory.

“It was a good game,” he began.

“We played a lot of young players, we’ve got to get used to it, but they were a good team and it was a good result for the young lads.

The 18-year-old netted the winner in the 72nd minute. Discussing the goal he said: “It came right, I hit it and I scored.

“I hope for more goals and assists this season but we’ll just have to see.”

The upcoming campaign is the first for Moore-Billam as a professional. Speaking on that he said: “I’m hoping to be in and around the team every game.

“I’ll try my best and just hope I can get more goals, assists and games played to make everybody happy.”

Summing up pre-season on a whole, his first as a professional in an intense environment, he said: “It’s been hard, very hard, but it’s all about making you better.

“The harder it is the better you get. He (Keith Hill) is tough on me but it’s going to make me a better player at the end of the day.”

“When he’s onto me, I like it. When he’s shouting, it does help,” he finished.

Discussing the 3G pitch, which may be a common environment in the National League, he revealed: “I don’t mind Astro Turf, I think it’s a good pitch (at the Horsfall Stadium).

Concluding with a look ahead to the final friendly against Farsley Celtic and the season ahead, he said: “I’m hoping to be in the team again, get a few minutes, or maybe the whole game.

“I feel like there are a lot more improvements to be made to get to where I want to be, and I feel like I can reach it as long as I put my mind to it.”
