Rob Lewis will now take charge of the Iron's home league encounter against Port Vale after Samuel Barrott withdrew from the game.

The Shropshire-based official arrives at the Sands Venue Stadium for his fifth game of the campaign and his second in Sky Bet League Two.

His first game of the campaign was AFC Wimbledon's 1-0 away win at Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup, a game in which he issued three cautions. Meanwhile, one yellow card was shown in the 1-1 draw between Exeter City and Chelsea Under-21s in the Papa John's Trophy - Lewis' latest game.

The 52-year-old has taken charge of the Iron on 11 occasions in total, most recently back in March when 10-man Scunthorpe rescued a late point against Southend United to draw 1-1.

In the 11 previous games refereeing Scunthorpe, he's issued 44 yellow cards and six reds, with a United player dismissed in the last two encounters. There have been two games with the most yellow cards (eight) - one in the Championship against Middlesbrough which also included a dismissal and one away at Gillingham, which also saw the hosts awarded three penalties.

Lewis is one of the EFL's longest serving officials, refereeing his first League Two match in 2005 between Rochdale and Rushden & Diamonds. Prior to this, he officiated on the Conference and was also an assistant referee on the Premier League.

As an assistant, he's been involved in some top matches, including games in the Champions League, UEFA Cup, Euro Qualifiers and a World Cup Qualifier.

He will be taking charge of a Port Vale fixture for the 16th time on Saturday, with the last encounter coming back in March in a 3-2 away defeat at Cheltenham Town. Across the previous 15 games, he's issued 53 yellow cards and two reds.

Last season, he took charge of 30 games, issuing 82 yellow cards and four reds. So far in this campaign, he's refereed four games, showing 12 yellow cards and no reds.

On Saturday, Lewis will be assisted by Joe Clark and Alan Clayton, while Martin Coy has been appointed as the fourth official.
