The Iron are set to kickstart their pre-season friendlies with an away trip to Brigg Town CIC on Saturday, July 8th (3pm kick-off).

United travel to the Hawthorns looking to get the squad minutes in the tank as the new Vanarama National league North season fast approaches.

The match will see the two sides compete for the inaugural Julie Taylor Trophy. Julie, who is connected to both teams through many means, having spent over a year volunteering at the Iron. Living in Brigg, Julie has also been manager of Brigg Town Colts, leading the Under-16s to the Jack Kalson League title in 2010-11, along with being a season ticket holder at both clubs.

Manager Jimmy Dean will hope to show off his new-look Scunthorpe squad with a whole host of additions such as Callum Roberts, Ross Barrows, Michael Clunan and a further eight signings that have all bolstered the team so far this summer.

United’s opponents Brigg Town play their football in the Northern Counties East Division One coming off the back of a ninth-placed finish in the 2022-23 campaign. The Zebras will be looking to build on last term by defeating the Iron in the two side's first encounter against each other for more than a decade where United triumphed 7-1.

The Referee for this fixture will be Louis Stamp, with the assistants being Dawid Chabe and James Needham.

Admission will be available on the turnstile, costing £6 for adults, £4 for consessions and £2 for Under-18’s.
