Scunthorpe United return to the road this weekend, travelling to face the league's bottom side Bishop's Stortford on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
After a poor result away to Darlington on Tuesday, the Iron are back in action looking to redeem themselves, against a side in need of a quick turn of form. United have a massive few days ahead, travelling to face Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday 9th March, and then face Spennymoor Town on Tuesday 12th March - two teams the side scored six goals against in the reverse fixtures at home in successive games.

The reverse fixture ended 6-1 with Connor Smith, Reagan Ogle, Will Evans, Tyler Denton and Danny Whitehall (two) all on the scoresheet.

IRON TEAM NEWS

Liam McAlinden commences his three-match ban following his red card against Chester last weekend, while defender Andrew Boyce will be in contention despite his dismissal in midweek.

Captain Michael Clunan was back in the squad on Tuesday following his deadleg, which kept him out last weekend.

Elsewhere, Jason Law and Callum Roberts are both absent through injury, with Law edging towards involvement, despite a setback in the week, while Roberts is approximately a month from contention.

THE OPPOSITION

Bishop’s Stortford have scored just 31 goals in the league lower than any other side, and conceded a hefty 79 goals more than any other team in the league. The Iron will be looking to capitalise on this poor record the Blues hold.

Kane Chrichlow is a key player for the Blue’s he signed in December and has been extremely important, but he will miss the encounter as he was sent off last weekend. The 23 year old Bermudian, has netted twice and got two assists in the league in his 13 appearances. In Bishop Stortford’s 6-1 upset over Aldershot Town in the FA Trophy, Chrichlow got himself five goals on the scoresheet and showed himself to be a real goal threat.

To say Bishop’s Stortford have had a tough season would be an understatement, they sit bottom of the league, 15 points behind 23rd and currently have the worst recent form in the league, having lost 12 games in a row in the league. The Blues’ last victory came just before Christmas on the 23rd of December where they beat Darlington away from home 2-0. United will be hoping to strike whilst the iron is hot to claim an enormous three points.
