Iron to take on Brigg Town CIC in opening pre-season friendly

Scunthorpe United can confirm that their first pre-season friendly in preparation for the 2026-27 season will take place against Brigg Town CIC on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 (kick-off 7pm).

The match will mark the start of the Iron’s pre-season fixtures and will take place at the Zebra’s recently refurbished home of EC Surfacing Stadium, a venue familiar to United. To heighten the stakes of the fixture, the Julie Taylor Trophy will be up for grabs for the winners.

In the previous meeting between the two sides, Scunthorpe would be taken to penalties by their neighbours, as the encounter finished 0-0 in normal time after a game of very few chances. However, with penalties the deciding factor in this particular fixture, Andy Butler’s side would secure the silverware thanks to several terrific saves from goalkeeper Maison Campbell.
