Pitch renovations continue with hybrid carpet system installed

Scunthorpe United has installed a hybrid carpet pitch system as part of extensive stadium renovations at The Attis Arena.

The technology combines synthetic fibres with natural grass to create a reinforced playing surface designed for improved drainage, durability, and consistent performance throughout the season.

The club implemented this solution following a couple of challenging seasons where weather conditions and heavy usage degraded the pitch quality.

The hybrid system, now standard across most Premier League and Championship clubs, integrates synthetic reinforcement into prepared soil before grass seeds germinate through the backing material.

Expected benefits include enhanced drainage during heavy rainfall, increased resistance to wear in high-traffic zones, and a more uniform surface.

This represents one of the most substantial pitch investments undertaken in recent years, preparing the stadium for the 2026-27 National League campaign.
