All the essential reading for the Iron's clash with Woking this afternoon in the Enterprise National League...
Scunthorpe United welcome Woking FC to the Attis Arena this afternoon, with the Cards looking to build on last season's campaign and push forward towards the play-off places with a victory much-needed for both sides.
Woking finished 10th in the National League last season, narrowly missing out on a play-off position after a campaign in which they recorded 16 wins, 15 draws and 15 defeats. Following the conclusion of the season, former Premier League striker Jermain Defoe was appointed as the club's first-team manager in March 2026, taking charge for the final six matches of the campaign.
The Cards were hoping to make further progress under Defoe this season, although were forced into parting ways with the former striker before the season even started, leaving goalkeeper coach Craig Ross and Jake Hyde to take the reins for the season.
So far this season, Woking have had a mixed bag of results to start the season and currently sit 15th place in the league standings. However, with a squad plagued with injuries, they have been forced into the market in recent weeks and currently have an astonishing 11 players on the sidelines..
More recently, the clubs met twice during the 2025-26 season, with Scunthorpe completing a league double. The Iron secured a 3-1 victory at the Attis Arena in August 2025, before claiming a 2-1 win away from home in December, thanks to goals from Danny Whitehall and Dec Howe.
Tickets are on sale for the Iron's match against Woking on Saturday, October 24th (3pm kick-off).
