New Showground CIC seeks new voices to help shape its future

New Showground CIC is inviting members of the community to come forward and play an active role in shaping the next chapter of the organisation.

The CIC Board is looking to broaden its membership and bring in new people, fresh ideas and additional skills to support the future development of the New Showground.

Expressions of Interest are particularly welcomed from people with experience in bid writing and fundraising, governance, legal matters, finance, business development and strategic planning.

The Board is also keen to hear from people who may not have previous board experience but who have enthusiasm, ideas and a genuine interest in helping the New Showground CIC develop and succeed.

As part of the recruitment, the CIC would particularly like to encourage new voices from across the community, including people who are not already directly involved in the leadership or governance of existing local organisations.

The CIC is also seeking a small number of younger members who can bring a different perspective, challenge thinking and help test new ideas and proposals as they are developed.

A spokesperson for the New Showground CIC Board said: “The New Showground is an important community asset and we want its future to be shaped by a broad range of people from across our community.

“There is already a huge amount of local knowledge, commitment and experience around the Showground. We now want to build on that by bringing some new faces around the table, widening the skills available to the CIC and creating space for different perspectives.

“We are particularly interested in people who can bring skills in areas such as finance, governance, legal matters and bid writing, but we are equally interested in enthusiasm, fresh thinking and people who genuinely want to help make things happen.

“We also want younger people to have a voice. We would like a couple of younger members to work alongside the wider Board, challenge us, test our ideas and help us understand whether the things we are considering will genuinely appeal to the next generation.”

The CIC is looking for people who are willing to contribute constructively, work collaboratively with others and help develop a sustainable long-term future for the New Showground.

Previous experience of serving on a Board is not essential, and support will be available to help new members understand the role and how the CIC operates.

The Board hopes the recruitment will create a strong mix of professional expertise, community knowledge and lived experience, while introducing greater diversity of thought into future decision-making.

Anyone interested in getting involved is invited to complete a short Expression of Interest setting out why they would like to join, what they could bring and the areas in which they have particular skills or interests.
