PREVIEW: Barrow (A)

The Iron are back in action with a trip on the road to Barrow, after an important and emphatic victory on home soil against Hartlepool. Last time out, United went a goal down, but found an equaliser through Pat Jones just three minutes later to get the score back on level terms. Debutant James Norwood netted right on the stroke of half time to put the Iron in front. In the second half Kyle Hurst and Hugh Parker both netted to compile misery for the visitors.

Our opponents Barrow were relegated from the EFL last season, and have struggled to kick in as they’d have liked in the National League. They currently sit 15th in the table with just three wins after ten league matches. With two in two, and three in their last five, the hosts will be hoping to have turned a corner in time for this fixture.

Just two points separates the two sides and both teams come into it with some hope after they both got a big performance on their last outing, as Barrow beat Southend 4-2, away from home.

A player the Iron will be hoping can flourish after a promising debut is James Norwood. The 36 year old striker, bagged a goal and an assist for Andy Butler’s side on his first appearance which was huge for the club after losing Danny Whitehall in the week leading up to the Norwood signing. He has a good record in the National League, with a good goal scoring record for Oldham. In the 23/24 season Norwood netted 18 goals in 44 games and the year after scored 11 and assisted two for the Latics. The veteran had a spell with Fleetwood Town last season where he scored two goals from 24 appearances.

With both teams looking to extend their form, and push on in the table, this fixture is a tough one to call.
