Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the acquisition of left-sided defender Brad Nicholson on a permanent deal following his departure from National League North play-off winners Boston United.

The 25-year-old Nicholson joins the Iron with his promotion winning medal from the last campaign after playing a crucial part in the Pilgrims side that snuck into play-offs and marginally managed to defeat Scunthorpe on penalties in the play-off semi-finals.

With a wealth on non-league experience under his belt, the defensive-minded man began his career with Sheffield FC and Handsworth Town before earning himself a promising move to Chesterfield on a short-term contract.

Following the expiry of his deal with the Spireites in 2019, Nicholson tried his luck with Guiseley where he really sustained himself as a regular starter and gained attention from Boston. In his two years with the Pilgrims, he built up a serious reputation within the amber ranks which caught the attention of manager Andy Butler: “We’ve been watching Brad for a while, and he fits the model of winners that we’re looking to build. He’s robust and strong, and is a great addition to the side.”

Nicholson goes into the squad for this evening's encounter with Gainsborough Trinity, and has been allocated the number two jersey.
