Scunthorpe United regrets to confirm the cancellation of the side’s home pre-season encounter with Bradford City, scheduled for Saturday, July 13th.

Despite positive progress on the Attis Arena playing surface, there are concerns that areas of the pitch will not be suitably ready for the fixture. While the game could go ahead, there is a real potential that playing the game would disrupt the progress of the pitch ahead of the Vanarama National League North campaign commencing on August 10th, and have a detrimental effect to the quality of the surface for the whole campaign.

With that in mind, a difficult decision has been taken to withdraw from the friendly with the Bantams to allow the pitch to continue with its progress unchallenged for an additional two weeks. Unfortunately, a reversal of the fixture is also not possible, with Bradford’s pitch also not set to be ready by this date.

The two friendlies against FC Halifax Town and Chesterfield, along with Iron Aid, are all unaffected and will go ahead as planned.

We would like to apologise to all at Bradford City for the inconvenience, but feel this is the right long term decision when considering the pitch for the important 2024-25 campaign.

Any supporters who have purchased tickets for the game can claim a full refund by calling 01724 747670 during opening hours, or by emailing sufctickets@scunthorpe-united.co.uk, leaving details of how to contact you. Please note, we do not hold card details on file, and therefore no automatic refunds can be given. The deadline for refunds is Friday, July 12th at 4pm.

The cancellation renders the club’s multi-buy offer obsolete, but Scunthorpe United is delighted to extend the offer across the two games.

Supporters who purchase both FC Halifax Town and Chesterfield tickets at the same time will have a discount applied at the checkout. Season ticket holders will receive 50% off their Chesterfield ticket when both tickets are purchased at once, while non-season ticket holders will receive 20% off their Chesterfield ticket when both tickets are purchased at once.

For enquiries, please call 01724 747670 during opening times, or email sufctickets@scunthorpe-united.co.uk.
