Iron partnership with Kelme continues into 2024-25 season

17 June 2024

Scunthorpe United is delighted to confirm Kelme will continue as the club's Technical Kit Partner for the 2024-25 season in the second of an initial two-year deal.

Established in 1977, the brand has a rich history featuring many sporting codes. From Wimbledon Champion Conchita Martinez to Real Madrid’s Champion’s League winning sides of the 90’s Kelme is never far away from the winners’ circle. The brand is now present across six continents, represented in over 40 countries. As principle sponsor of China’s second and third tiers, the brand has a huge presence in the East (including 300 monobrand stores).

Prior to the Iron, Kelme’s latest introduction into the UK was at Championship side Watford, while they have also established foothold in some of Europe’s other top leagues with Espanyol and Boavista wearing the Kelme claw.

In collaboration with the Valencia Institute of Biomechanics, Kelme use the latest technologies, fabrics and designs.

The club's partnership with Kelme has continued to grow following the change of ownership, with both entities collaborating through adversity to introduce new and improved training kit for the first team midway through the season.

Both the Iron and Kelme have been working hard behind the scenes perfecting three new kits for the 2024-25 season in celebration of the 125th anniversary, which has also included the new badge being produced, with a lot of effort put in from our Technical Kit Partners. The club has also been working in collaboration with Aaron Cheeseman along with Pete Hewes and Mitchell Blades of Know Film to bring an exciting kit launch video, which will be published towards the end of June, or the start of July.

In the meantime, our home shirt for the new campaign will go on a semi-blind pre-order, for supporters to be among the first to get their hands on the product once it arrives next month.

Media, ticketing and retail manager James Moody said: "We've been delighted with the partnership that we've formed with Kelme over the first season of the agreement. They've worked really well with the club as we've battled through the debt inherited, with the entire kit order from last season one of the outstanding bills the new owners took on.

"We've been working on our 125th anniversary year behind the scenes for months, first putting the badge to a fan vote before working on designs. Taking into consideration the fantastic retail sales from last season, we've massively upped the order on junior sizes, as well as sizes we feel sold out too early, and also reintroduced the infant kits range.

"We're hoping the new designs will be a real hit amongst supporters and signify a poignant year and milestone, and cannot wait to see supporters wearing them week-in, week-out up and down the country, and across the world."

James Lawrence, Sales Manager of Kelme UK, added: "Kelme are delighted to be working with SUFC again for the 2024-25 season. With all of the positive changes the club has put in place over the past nine months, both on and off the pitch, we are looking forward to a successful season ahead with the Iron."

Co-owner and Chair Michelle Harness continued: "We've had fantastic support from Kelme since we took over the club. They've been very mindful of our situation, and have continued to support us, recommending and providing better training kit for the players mid-season to improve what was ordered last pre-season.

"I know both James here at the club, and James at Kelme, have both been working really hard to bring us three kits to be proud of for the new season. A couple take on a retro look, while one really focuses on the town, and I think they link in with our 125th anniversary celebrations very well.

"Hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer to see them, but James, along with Aaron, Pete and Mitchell are working immensely hard to put together an incredible kit launch, with videos being produced. We want these kits to have the launch to match, so that we do it justice."

The Iron's home shirt for the 2024-25 season will go on a "blind" pre-order imminently. We're that confident that you'll love it as much as we do!
