Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce that promising forward Sam Fishburn has put pen to paper on a deal that sees him arrive at the Attis Arena following his departure from League Two outfit Fleetwood Town.

Aged 20, Fishburn already has experience at the surrounding levels, and has proven himself to be a prolific scorer throughout loan spells with Lancaster City and Morpeth Town. The majority of Fishburn’s 14 goals in 54 first team appearances have come in the Northern Premier League, however the Gateshead-born striker will be hoping to replicate that form with the Iron in the upcoming 2024-25 Vanarama National League North campaign.

After coming through the youth ranks of Carlisle United, Fishburn made a handful appearances in the Football League for the Cumbrians before making the permanent switch to Fleetwood Town on a one year-deal that expired recently. During his time with the Cod Army, he was unable to break into the first team, however thrived for the development squad and earned himself a move to York City on a loan deal in March 2024 until the end of the season.

Having played his part in helping his York side maintain their place in the National League, Fishburn will be looking to channel that momentum into a promotion push with the Iron as manager Andy Butler prepares his side with squad reinforcements for the season that is to come.
