Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the contract extension of hometown hero Fin Shrimpton that sees the midfielder extend his stay at the Attis Arena until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

The 21-year-old is known for his robust nature and his fearless style of play. Following the option that was activated on him last summer he was forced to take a back seat approach last season and was often seen coming off the bench.

However, Shrimpton did string together an astounding run of starts between September and November where he most notably scored a sublime solo goal against Scarborough in the Iron’s 4-1 victory over the Seadogs.

For the second half of last campaign Shrimpton plied his trade for fellow National league North outfit Spennymoor Town, for whom he became an instant fan favourite with his tireless performances that saw him cement his place in Graeme Lee’s starting XI as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

Now under the management of Andy Butler, Shrimpton will be hoping to build on his promising loan spell with Spennymoor and cement his place in the team.

We will have reaction from Fin following extending his stay in claret and blue when he returns from holiday in a couple of weeks time.
